The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and SGH Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) have expanded their collaboration with the launch of a new postgraduate studies, Academic Programme – CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting. The programme has been designed for individuals looking to develop their finance, business and management skills while working towards internationally recognised professional qualifications.
The programme enables participants to complete the Operational Level of the CGMA Professional Qualification and earn the CIMA-awarded Diploma in Management Accounting (CIMA Dip MA). It is aimed at professionals working in finance, accounting, banking and consulting, as well as managers, graduates and professionals outside finance who use financial information to support decision-making.
Pathway to the CGMA Professional Qualification
Upon meeting the programme requirements, participants can receive exemptions from three CIMA exams at Operational Level: E1 Managing Finance in a Digital World, P1 Management Accounting and F1 Financial Reporting. They can then take the external Operational Case Study exam, which, when successfully completed, allows them to complete the Operational Level and earn the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting. Earning the diploma also represents a step on the path towards the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
Combining academic knowledge with practical finance skills
Classes are delivered online, entirely in English, by experienced SGH faculty members and CIMA tutors. Alongside preparation for the Operational Case Study exam, the programme covers areas including managing finance in a digital world, cost accounting, budgeting, short-term business decision-making, financial reporting, taxation, and cash and working capital management.
Dr Magdalena Giedroyć, Head of the Postgraduate Programme and Head of the Management Accounting Department at SGH Warsaw School of Economics, said:
"The programme has been designed to provide participants not only with solid preparation for CIMA's Operational Case Study exam, but also with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a dynamic and demanding business environment. We place particular emphasis on combining academic knowledge with a practical approach to financial management, accounting and business decision-making.
SGH's high academic standards, the expertise of our faculty and CIMA tutors, and the programme's close alignment with CIMA requirements will help graduates prepare both for the examination and for the professional challenges of working in an international business environment."
Jakub Bejnarowicz, Regional Director – Europe at CIMA, said:
"In a world shaped by technology and AI, professionals today are expected to bring much more than technical finance knowledge. They also need business skills, strategic thinking and the ability to turn data into decisions that create value for organisations.
Expanding SGH's educational offering with this new postgraduate programme, developed jointly with CIMA, gives professionals the opportunity to build these capabilities. At the same time, it opens a pathway to CIMA's Diploma in Management Accounting and, in the future, the opportunity to progress towards the CGMA Professional Qualification. We are delighted to support the next generation of finance and business leaders in developing the skills they need to succeed in their careers."
